Insights into the Peer Review Interview Process
Embarking on the journey towards Chartered Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) involves navigating the crucial step of the Peer Review Interview. Let’s delve into the key steps, dos and don’ts, and what to expect during this significant phase of your IPD journey.
The Peer Review Interview is the final milestone in the IPD process, where candidates will encounter a panel of esteemed CMIOSH/CFIOSH volunteers.
During the interview, candidates will deliver a 10-minute presentation, providing an opportunity to demonstrate their expertise in health and safety practices. While a sample presentation is provided upon booking the interview, preparation is paramount for a successful outcome.
Candidates will face IOSH core competency questions from the panel, focusing on assessing their knowledge and application of health and safety practices. It’s crucial to prepare well in advance, as question sets cannot be shared with candidates. When responding to the core questions, using “I” instead of “we” effectively showcases individual expertise, contributing to a compelling presentation. Additionally, candidates must note that taking notes into the interview is not permitted, emphasizing the importance of thorough preparation and self-assuredness in knowledge.
Upon successful completion of the interview, candidates will receive confirmation of their transfer to Chartered status within 21 days. This remarkable achievement is acknowledged with the bestowal of a CMIOSH certificate and Badge, signifying the professional growth attained on this journey.
In the event of an unsuccessful outcome, candidates will receive written notification within 21 days, accompanied by feedback from the panel. With a referral time of 12 months, individuals have the opportunity to refine their skills and reapply, demonstrating resilience and dedication to their professional development in health and safety practices.
To all those preparing for the Peer Review Interview, best of luck! Stay confident, showcase your expertise, and embrace this opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to health and safety practices. You’ve got this!
